Wildfire Risk Assessment
Assess buildings, vegetation, water supply and existing fire protection infrastructure using FireSmart and Structure Protection principles.
BRITISH COLUMBIA
Site-specific wildfire preparedness and structure protection planning for rural properties, stratas, resorts and multi-building communities.
THE PROBLEM
Fire Shield helps property owners understand their property's wildfire risk, procure the right equipment, and establish a clear structure protection plan before an emergency occurs.
WHAT WE DO
Assess buildings, vegetation, water supply and existing fire protection infrastructure using FireSmart and Structure Protection principles.
Create a site-specific plan identifying protection priorities, equipment requirements and deployment procedures.
Recommend pumps, sprinklers, hose, fittings, water sources and supporting equipment suited to the property.
Turn the property into a clear operational map showing water sources, equipment locations, hose routes and sprinkler locations.
Develop practical procedures that designated property personnel can follow when wildfire threatens.
Conduct a spring structure protection deployment drill so the plan and equipment are well known before they are needed.
WHAT A PLAN LOOKS LIKE
Every property is different. Fire Shield plans translate a site assessment into a practical deployment strategy that property owners and designated personnel can understand and practice.
THE PROCESS
Inspect the property, structures, access, vegetation, water supply and existing protection systems.
Develop a site-specific wildfire preparedness and structure protection plan.
Identify the equipment needed to put the plan into practice.
Run a deployment drill so people know what to do before wildfire season.
ABOUT FIRE SHIELD
Fire Shield was founded by Evan Wright, a firefighter with experience in structural, wildland, and aircraft firefighting, including five seasons with the BC Wildfire Service and experience as an Initial Attack Crew Leader. He has supplemented his experience with Firesmart and BCWS Structure Protection courses.
The goal is simple: He wants to use his knowledge and experience to help reduce the number of structures damaged and lost each wildfire season.
